            the north, the San Francisco Bay to the east, 23rd Street to the south, and Illinois Street to the
            west, in the southeast part of San Francisco, with various public benefits, including 30% affordable

200355 [Emergency Ordinance - Public Health Emergency Leave]

            Emergency ordinance to temporarily require private employers with 500 or more employees to
            provide public health emergency leave during the public health emergency related to COVID-19.
            (Pursuant to Charter, Section 2.107, this matter requires the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the
            Board of Supervisors (8 votes) for passage.)
            Supervisors Safai and Preston requested to be added as co-sponsors.
            Supervisor Mar, seconded by Supervisor Safai, moved that this Ordinance be AMENDED, AN
            AMENDMENT OF THE WHOLE BEARING SAME TITLE, by revising the definition of ‘employee’ to
            remove the requirement of minimum hours worked to be eligible for leave, and to clarify that workers
            are assumed to be employees until demonstrated otherwise; revising Subsection 4(a) to clarify the
            number of hours of leave an employee is eligible for; revising Subsection 5(b) to narrow the eligible
            use of leave for healthcare providers to address concerns on staffing levels and narrow the definition
            of which healthcare providers are able to give this advice; and revising Subsection 5(c) to clarify the
