Recommendations of the Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee

190856 [Establishing Vision Zero on Homicides and Violent Crimes Plan]
            Sponsors: Walton; Haney, Mar, Brown, Mandelman, Ronen, Stefani, Peskin, Safai, Fewer
            and Yee
            Resolution establishing the creation of a Vision Zero on Homicides and Violent Crimes Plan for
            neighborhoods most impacted by violence, and urging City departments to implement strategies to
            achieve the plan.
            Supervisors Fewer and Yee requested to be added as co-sponsors.
            Supervisor Stefani, seconded by Supervisor Walton, moved that this Resolution be AMENDED, AN
            AMENDMENT OF THE WHOLE BEARING SAME TITLE, on Page 2, Lines 1-9, by adding ‘WHEREAS,
            Gender-based violence and domestic violence are a leading cause of death among self-identified
            women and a threat to public safety, and the presence of a gun in a domestic violence situation
            increases the risk of homicide by 500 percent; and WHEREAS, Intimate partner violence accounts for
            15 percent of all violent crime, and nearly half of all women who were murdered were killed by a
            current or former intimate partner, over 70 percent of all murder-suicides involve an intimate partner;
            over 30 percent of California women and 25 percent of Californian men experience intimate partner
            physical violence, intimate partner sexual violence and/or intimate partner stalking in their lifetimes;
            now, therefore, be it’; and on Page 4, Line 22, through page 5, Line 5, by adding ‘FURTHER
