Requests Granted
            From: Supervisor Peskin
            To: City Attorney
Requesting/Inquiring: In light of recent concerns surrounding incomplete responses to records
requests and lost or destroyed records within the Department of Building Inspection (DBI), I
hereby request that the City Attorney prepare amendments to the City's records retention
ordinance to ensure that all records within DBI which relate to the safety of our City’s buildings,
and, in particular, to the safety of our City’s high-rise developments - including but not limited to all
records pertaining to program management, inspection services, technical services, code
interpretation related to specific projects, approved plans, and permits of occupancy - are retained
permanently, for the lifespan of the project, or for as long as otherwise necessary to ensure that
DBI can meet the highest level of inquiry regarding the approval process, safety and viability of
            any project under its purview.

            From: Supervisor Peskin
            To: City Attorney
Requesting/Inquiring: Request for the City Attorney to draft legislation forming a Tall Building
Seismic Safety Workgroup comprised of independent experts in the field which would work with
the Board of Supervisors and the Department of Building Inspection to identify best practices for
ensuring the safety of our residential and commercial buildings in seismically vulnerable
            neighborhoods.

ADDENDUM

Ray Hartz submitted the following additional information during General Public Comment, as
follows: CGOBOC minutes, September 2012 “there was public comment from James Chafee, Ray
Hartz and Peter Warfield regarding various aspect of the Branch Libraries Improvement Project
and Friends of the Library. There was also a significant exchange between committee members
and library staff regarding this issue, as well, with particular inquiry and concern over how the
library presented financial suggesting that money spent by the friends were included in the
program tools. There were legitimate questions as to whether the city every actually control these
funds; the answer appeared to be “no,” which was not clear from the documents. The committee
gave direction to staff that the document should be revised and provided to the committee in public
again. Going forward, more rigorous accounting standards should be used in presenting City
financials.” City Librarian Luis Herrera, once again, presented false claims relating to FFOL. He’s
San Francisco’s version of Donald Trump!
