Board of Supervisors Sitting as a Committee of the Whole

110213 [Hearing - Emergency Ordinance Extending Municipal Elections Code Deadlines
 for Possible June 2011 Election]
 Sponsor: Chiu
 Hearing of persons interested in or objecting to the proposed Emergency Ordinance authorizing the
 Director of Elections to extend deadlines in the San Francisco Municipal Elections Code by no
 more than 15 days for a possible special municipal election to be held in June 2011.
 The President inquired as to whether any member of the public wished to address the Committee
 of the Whole relating to File No. 110278. John Arntz, Director, Department of Elections, provided
 an overview of the emergency ordinance. There were no speakers. The President declared public
 comment closed and adjourned as the Committee of the Whole, reconvening as the Board of
 Supervisors.

SPECIAL ORDER 3:30 P.M. - Recognition of Commendations

Privilege of the Floor
 Supervisor Elsbernd, seconded by Supervisor Wiener, moved to suspend Rule 4.37 of the Rules of
 Order of the Board of Supervisors to grant privilege of the floor to the following guests. The motion
 carried by the following vote:
 Ayes: 8 - Avalos, Chiu, Chu, Elsbernd, Farrell, Kim, Mar, Wiener
 Excused: 3 - Campos, Cohen, Mirkarimi
 Supervisor Elsbernd introduced, welcomed, and presented a Certificate of Honor to dancers of the
 Wild Swans Theatre Company in recognition of St. Patrick's Day, their accomplishments, and
 continued community support.

 Privilege of the floor was granted to Kay Gulbengay, Chair, and Emily Murase, Executive Director,
 Commission on the Status of Women, who provided an overview of Women's History Month.

 WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
 Supervisors introduced, welcomed, and presented Certificates of Honor to individuals in recognition
 of Women's History Month, their accomplishments, and their continued community support as
 referenced below:

 Supervisor Kim, on behalf of Supervisor Mirkarimi, recognized Carlina Hansen;
