Board of Supervisors Meeting Minutes 12/10/2013 REGULAR AGENDA UNFINISHED BUSINESS Recommendation of the Budget and Finance Committee 130801 [Contract Amendment - Global Tel*Link - Inmate Telephone Services - $3,000,000] Resolution retroactively authorizing the Sheriff’s Department to amend the existing contract with Global*TelLink for inmate telephone services from June 1, 2010, to May 31, 2013, to June 1, 2010, to May 31, 2014, with an additional one-year option to extend the term remaining, which will result in an anticipated commission to the Inmate Welfare Fund of more than $3,000,000 over the four-year contract term. (Sheriff) Privilege of the floor was granted to Bree Mawhorter (Sheriff's Department), Jon Givner (City Attorney's Office), and Sheriff Ross Mirk arimi (Sheriff's Department), who responded to questions raised throughout the discussion. Supervisor Breed, seconded by Supervisor Campos, moved that this Resolution be AMENDED on Page 1, Line 6, by adding 'subject to future Board of Supervisors approval'; and Page 2, Lines 16-17, by deleting 'with an additional one year option exercisable by the Sheriff's Department', and Lines 18-23, by adding 'FURTHER RESOLVED, That the amended agreement provides that the City may extend the agreement for one additional year, to May 31, 2015, at the City’s option. The Board of Supervisors may approve the exercise of that option in the future, but this Resolution does not approve it.
