Residents of Chinatown recently testified before the Housing and Social Policy Committee that there is currently no way to report emergency and non-emergency situations in Chinese. Community members may be unaware of current city services or wary of using them. A targeted educational campaign may be helpful in encouraging community members to report crimes and other safety issues and in bringing to the fore any problems with existing services for non-English speakers.
