ROLL CALL AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco met in regular session on the above date with President Tom Ammiano presiding. The meeting was called to order at 2:05
p.m. On call of the roll, the following Supervisor was noted absent: Supervisor Katz - 1. Quorum present. Supervisor Katz was noted present at 2:09 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES

Supervisor Yaki, seconded by Supervisor Leno, moved to approve the November 2, 1998 Meeting Minutes. The motion carried by the following vote:

COMMUNICATIONS

The Clerk stated that she received a letter from Supervisor Medina indicating he is resigning as a member, Board of Supervisors, effective close of business Tuesday, January 19, 1999.

Privilege of the Floor

Supervisor Teng, seconded by Supervisor Newsom, moved to suspend Rule 4.25 of the Rules of Order of the Board of Supervisors to grant privilege of the floor to the following guests. The
motion carried by the following vote:

Farewell to Supervisor Jose Medina

Members of the Board of Supervisors joined the following guests in memoralizing and extending their congratulations to Supervisor Medina on his new position as Director of the California
Transportation Department: Kathalina Valencia; Pat Goodman; Bob Planthold; male speaker; Jose; Calvin Louie; Sarah Shaker; female speaker; Raquel Medina.

Commendation

In recognition of the 20th Anniversary of the inauguration of Harry Britt, Supervisor Leno introduced a resolution commending Supervisor Britt and noted he served on the Board for 14
years, from 1979 to 1993, and was the first gay person elected by the public to serve as President of the Board. Supervisor Britt thanked the Board for the commendation and spoke
briefly.

Supervisor Brown introduced and presented Certificates of Honor to Joe Lewis and Jerome B. Saunders, in recognition of their civic and social responsibilities.
