Hearing Held [Public Hearing] Hearing of persons interested in or objecting to the recommendation of the Public Transportation Commission for abandonment of portions of service on Lines 32-Embarcadero, 42-Downtown Loop, 80X-Gateway Express, 81X-Caltrain Express and 82X-Levi Plaza and Presidio Express, and establishment of substitute service. File 98-0358, 98-0359 (Reroute the 32-Embarcadero to operate between Hyde/Beach and the Muni Metro station on the Embarcadero between Folsom and Harrison at all times. The 32 would no longer operate along The Embarcadero south of Harrison or on Townsend, Fourth, Berry, King and Third Streets between The Embarcadero and the Caltrain Station during weekday peak periods and on weekends as it does now. This area is now served by E-Embarcadero Muni Metro rail service. Reroute the 42-Downtown Loop to operate via Howard and Second Street (clockwise loop) and Second and Folsom (counterclockwise loop) between Market Street and the Caltrain Station. The 42 would no longer operate on certain portions of First Street, Harrison Street, Main Street, Bryant Street, The Embarcadero, and Brannan Street. Discontinue present service on lines 80X, 81X and 82X and establish new service on lines 80X and 82X; the net effect of these changes will be as follows: Extend the 80-X Gateway Express west from Front to Sansome; the frequencies would also be revised to reflect diversion of passengers to rail service on the new Muni Metro Embarcadero Extension. Discontinue the 81X-Caltrain Express, weekday peak period 80X service would be removed from Third, Market, Beale, Folsom, The Embarcadero, Townsend, Fourth and King. Revise the 82X-Levi Plaza and Presidio Express to operate (weekdays, peak periods only) on a revised AM peak period route and to operate on the same PM peak period route as it does now. It would no longer operate on The Embarcadero between Folsom and Broadway and on Broadway between The Embarcadero and Front in the AM peak period. As with 80X, the schedule would also be revised.) By Supervisor Ammiano, that City Attorney prepare ordinance to create the San Francisco Safer Medical Devices Compliance Ordinance which would require all health facilities in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, offices, schools, correctional settings, long-term care facilities, hospices, research settings, homes, or in pre-hospital environments (e.g. emergency response), which are owned by, maintain contracts with, or receive any funds or services from the City and County of San Francisco to comply with the ordinance. By Supervisor Bierman, that letters of inquiry be sent to Sunset Scavenger and City Administrator concerning the new Sunset Scavenger recycling containers to determine what accommodations for senior citizens and people with disabilities who may have difficulty handling the new, larger recycling containers have been instituted. By Supervisor Brown, that letters of inquiry be sent to Juvenile Probation, Chief of Police, Mayor’s Office of Children, Youth and their Families to determine the number of minors in custody for crimes involving the use of guns.
