Quorum present. DisabilityAwarenessDay Members of the Board of Supervisors participated in the Third Annual Disability Awareness Day along with the District Attorney and other City department personnel. Various Supervisors were in wheelchairs or carried canes. SuspensionoftheRules PresentationofGuests Supervisor Yee introduced and welcomed Mr. Bryon Yan and Hons Wong. Supervisor Yee, seconded by Supervisor Newsom, moved to suspend Rule 4.25 of the Rules of Order of the Board of Supervisors to grant privilege of the floor to Mr. Yan. No objection and motion carried. Mr. Yan presented Mr. Hons Wong, the first place winner of the Second Annual Disability Awareness Poster Contest sponsored by the Independent Living Resource Center, Sing Tao Daily, China Radio and KPST, Channel 65. There were 172 entries which included many school children, seven of which received honors for their participation. By Supervisor Yee, that letter of inquiry be sent to Chief of Police requesting information in writing on how many citations have been issued for violation of the newly enacted provision in Section 22112 of the Vehicle Code that requires bus drivers to flash red warning lights and signs on the approach to school bus stops at all times when the school bus is stopped for the purpose of loading or unloading pupils, regardless of whether the pupils must cross the highway or private road and how information of the new traffic regulations have been disseminated to the traffic enforcement officers.
