SPECIAL ORDER 2:00 P.M. - Mayor's Appearance Before The Board

250124 [Formal Policy Discussions - February 11, 2025]
Pursuant to Charter, Sections 2.103 and 3.100(7), and Administrative Code, Section 2.11, the Mayor
shall discuss eligible topics submitted from the Supervisors. The Mayor may address the Board
initially for up to five minutes. Discussion shall not exceed two minutes per question or answer.

The following topic was noticed on the agenda representing District 7:

            1. Short-term operational funding for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA).
Mayor Daniel Lurie addressed the Board of Supervisors regarding this week's events happening
around the City for Lunar New Year and the National Basketball Association's All-Star Game. Mayor
Lurie further spoke on the launch of the Hospitality Zone Task Force to improve public safety and
revitalize commercial districts. Mayor Lurie then discussed the above referenced topic submitted by
            the District 7 Supervisor.

Supervisor Melgar began the discussion by asking the following question: Will you do everything in
your power to ensure that we can weather the next couple of years with no service cuts to MUNI while
we work on long-term funding solutions? Mayor Lurie responded he would do everything in his power
to support MUNI's immediate and long-term health since it plays a vital role in the City's economic
            recovery.

Supervisor Melgar then followed up with the following question: What ideas do you have for funding
sources or sources of income? Mayor Lurie responded he is lobbying for additional state funding, but
local and regional measures may be needed to support MUNI's budget.

Mayor Lurie did not ask any follow-up questions related to this topic. Following public comment this
matter was filed. No further action was taken.
