SPECIAL ORDER 2:30 P.M. - Recognition of Commendations
            Without objection, Rule 5.36 of the Rules of the Board of Supervisors was suspended to grant
            privilege of the floor to the following guest(s).


            Supervisor Ronen introduced, welcomed, and presented a Certificate of Honor to Bryan Suchi-Lopez
            and Edwin Suchi-Lopez in honor of Latinx Heritage Month and in recognition of their
            accomplishments benefiting from legislation passed a decade ago that provides legal representation
            to unaccompanied immigrant children.

       Student Success Fund for Newly Created School Stabilization Team - October 1,
       2024, at 3:00 p.m.]
            Sponsors: Safai; Peskin
            Hearing of the Board of Supervisors sitting as a Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, October 1,
            2024, at 3:00 p.m., to hold a public hearing to examine the unaccounted for $20,000,000 in the San
            Francisco Unified School District’s (SFUSD) budget for Special Education and the unfilled positions
            that support SFUSD’s Special Education work, and the $8,400,000 from the Student Success Fund
            the Mayor allocated to the newly announced School Stabilization Team; and requesting the SFUSD
            Superintendent, Department of Children Youth and Their Families, Recreation and Park Department,
            Mayor's Office, Controller's Office, Human Services Agency, Department of Human Resources, and
            Treasurer & Tax Collector to report; scheduled pending approval of the Motion contained in File No.
            240942, to be considered on October 1, 2024.
            President Peskin opened the public hearing and inquired as to whether any member of the public
            wished to address the Committee of the Whole regarding unaccounted special education funding and
            unfilled positions at the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) (File No. 240943). Matt
            Alexander, President (San Francisco Board of Education); Vanessa D. Marrero, Parent and
            Community Advocate; Maria Su, Director (Department of Children Youth and Their Families); Matt
            Wayne, Superintendent (San Francisco Unified School District); and Alida Fisher, Commissioner
            (Board of Education); provided an overview of the hearing matter and responded to questions raised
            throughout the discussion. Rev. Amos Brown; Mika Chanvil; Rye; Shanell Blackwell; Allison; Kaylin;
            Sabrina Rey; Matthew Reese; William Patterson; Bernice Casey; Jeff Lucas; Efrain Barrera;
            Speaker; Audrey Sulay; Alison; Cheryl Jackson; Regina Chung; Rex Ridgeway; Ryan Amoly; Leslie
            Woo; Speaker; Otto Duffy; Thierry Fill; spoke on various concerns relating to funding at the SFUSD.
            The President closed public comment, declared the matter heard and filed, adjourned as the
            Committee of the Whole, and reconvened as the Board of Supervisors.
