Board of Supervisors Meeting Minutes 7/23/2024 Members Present: Connie Chan, Matt Dorsey, Joel Engardio, Rafael Mandelman, Aaron Peskin, Dean Preston, Hillary Ronen, Ahsha Safai, and Catherine Stefani The Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco met in special session on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, with President Aaron Peskin presiding. President Peskin called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. ROLL CALL AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE On the call of the roll, Supervisors Chan, Dorsey, Engardio, Mandelman, Peskin, Preston, Ronen, Safai, and Stefani were noted present. Supervisors Melgar and Walton were noted not present. A quorum of the Board was present. President Peskin presented the ancestral homeland acknowledgement of the Ramaytush Ohlone, who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula, pursuant to Board Rule 4.7.1. President Peskin led the Members of the Board and the audience in the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, pursuant to Board Rule 4.9. COMMUNICATIONS Angela Calvillo, Clerk of the Board, informed the Board that she was in receipt of correspondence from President Aaron Peskin calling for two special meetings of the Board of Supervisors on July 23, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. to consider File No. 240775 (Motion, Calling from Committee and Modifying Time for Submission of Charter Amendment under Rule 2.22.7), and 9:05 a.m. to consider File No. 240544 (Charter Amendment, Police Staffing and Voluntary Deferred Retirement Option Program for the Police Department). Board of Supervisors Meeting Minutes 7/23/2024 REGULAR AGENDA NEW BUSINESS Referred to the Board of Supervisors Clerk Calvillo further informed the Board that she was in receipt of correspondence received from the Office of Supervisor Melgar, received at 9:13 a.m., and the Office of Supervisor Walton, received at 9:20 a.m., requesting to be excused from today's special meeting. Supervisors Melgar and Walton Excused from Attendance Supervisor Mandelman, seconded by Supervisor Stefani, moved that Supervisors Melgar and Walton be excused from attending today's meeting.
